Cause of his death was Diabetes Mellitus 8 mths/ Diabetic Coma 1 day. General Notes: At the time of the 1901 Census he was living in the Gasworks Cottages, Mill Road, Motherwell with his family. He was aged 48, Secretary & treasurer to the Gas Company, born in Holytown, Lanarkshire. Living with him were wife Maggie, aged 31, born Motherwell; daughters Mary and Lizzie, aged 20 and 16 both born in Motherwell, Lanark; and sons Robert and laexander, 14 and 10 months, both born Motherwell, Lanark. Robert was a Clerk at the Motherwell Gas Company. Their house had 4 rooms with windows. Medical Notes: The informant was Maggie Leckie, his widow.
