Philip Mulcahy

  General Notes:

At the time of the 1880 US Census Philip and Mary were living in Washington Township, Johnson, Iowa. Philip was a Farmer, aged 58, born in Wales. Both his parents were born in Ireland. His age is slightly inconsistent with the birth year on his headstone (1822 vs 1828) so I'm not sure which is correct. Wife Mary is aged 29, Keeping house, both parents born in Ireland. Living with them are children: Patrick, 11, working on the farm; Maggie, 10; Mary E., 7; Philip,6: John, 4; and Ann 9/12. Also living with them was Philip's brother David, 50, born in Wales and Mary's mother, Maggie "Conly", aged 72, widowed, born in Ireland as were both her parents.

Philip married Mary Connolly, daughter of John Connelly ** and Margaret Reilly **, on 4 Sep 1868 in Johnson, Jones, Iowa, USA. (Mary Connolly was born in 1850 in Ireland, died on 20 Feb 1919 in Johnson, Jones, Iowa, USA and was buried in 1919 in Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City, Johnson, Iowa, USA.)
