According to clerical records he was born in 1849, ordained in 1879 and died in 1917. He was ordained for Salford diocese but finished his days as a curate in Drumreilly Parish, County Leitrim where he is buried. His failure to rise beyond the rank of curate, it is said, was because of a drink problem. The clerical records record his hometown as Crummer.
