After Annie died her two young sons, Alfred and Reggie were taken in by their 20 year old sister, Florence who worked as a housekeeper in return for board and lodging for the three of them. Eventually Florrie found it hard to keep the boys and in 1933 she applied to Burnside orphanage at North Parramatta to take the boys.
Alfred married Marjorie Yvonne Auliff in 1956 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
