Born at 83 Forest Avenue, Aberdeen on 8th October 1937 and baptized at Ferryhill South Church on 21 November 1937 by Rev T Merricks Arnott in presence of William Spence and Isabel Grieve, eldest in the family who had just moved from 133 Union Grove to 32 Seafield Gardens, Aberdeen, was not a strong infant requiring an operation during the early weeks of his life. Attended Ashley Road School then Ruthrieston JSS. Joined Town and Country Motor Garage, 19 Justice Mill Lane and completed his motor mechanic training and apprenticeship. Was "called-up" and spent 3 years in the RAF mainly in England. On discharge, joined the City of Glasgow Police for 6 years then transferred to Aberdeen two years after his father's retirement. On completing 30 years with the Police , joined AAH Pharmaceuticals Craigshaw Crescent as a driver-storeman then was taken over by Dunlops of Dumfries again as a driver delivering drugs etc to vets in the northeast of Scotland. Leaving this company he joined Aberdeen City Council Social Work as a minibus driver, he left there in 2000 to join British Red Cross, three mornings a week carrying renal dialysis patients to ARI. 2004 spent 4 months in Ward 16 Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with leukemia, subjected to a new drug which reportedly had very good results.

At Aberdeen the 12th day of June 1962 IT IS HEREBY certified that Michael Kerr Spence, Batchelor, Police Constable, 32 Seafield Gardens, Aberdeen and Mary Michie Revie Shimmins, spinster, 39 Gordon Road, Aberdeen have been duly Proclaimed in the Church of Mannofield on 10th day of June 1962 and that no objections were offered
