"MR SAMUEL GEORGE
The death occurred at Gladstone recently of Mr Samuel George, who was well known and highly respected in Rockhampton, where he had lived for many years prior to his departure for Gladstone in 1933. Mr George was born in Ayrshire, Scotland. he came to this country more than 60 years ago by the Scottish Knight. he joined the Railway Department, and was well known in the Central District, having been a guard for 42 years. During this period he was guard on the Emu Park line for 18 years. He was retired from the Railway Department in 1924. Mr and Mrs George celebrated their golden wedding at Gladstone last August, having been married at Emu Park on August 13 1890.
Surviving members of the family are the widow, Mrs George, who is 77 years of age, Miss George, Mr Frederick George, engine driver, of Gladstone, and Mr Wilfred George, of Howard Smith Limited, of Rockhampton, and a grandson, Mr Nevill George, who has joined the Australian Navy."
