George Mackay Bruce
General Notes: George was born when his mother was 22 and was raised by his maternal grandmother. His mother had 4 more children by the time she and her husband emigrated to Australia on the Bendigo in 1922 with them. George was left with his granny and he came to Australia when he was 17, sponsored by the Big Brother Movement. Noted events in his life were: • He worked as a Labourer. • He was educated at Primary School. • He was Pres. George married Gladys Jean Sloman, daughter of Charles Spencer Sloman and Gertrude May Anstiss, on 17 Aug 1940 in Granville, New South Wales, Australia. (Gladys Jean Sloman was born on 13 Dec 1911 in Granville, New South Wales, Australia, died on 7 Mar 1991 in Jack Aldous Nursing Home, Umina, , New South Wales, Australia and was buried on 11 Mar 1991 in Palmdale Crematorium, Ourimbah, , New South Wales, Australia.) |
