His daughter Lucy was married in New Lenton, Nottinghamshire, which was famous for it's Lace. He was a Lace worker and living in Lenton in 1851 with his wife and Lucy.
In 1861 he and Mary were living alone in Lenton, John was a Card Puncher and Luch a Lace Mender. it is clearly them as the ages and birthplaces on the Census document match.
