Elizabeth Hocking
General Notes: Elizabeth's birth was the cause of some celebration in the Hocking household. Ezekiel and Mary Anne had had six sons, and one daughter who had died at just eight months old, before Elizabeth arrived. Ezekiel, who was known as Zake, celebrated her birth in fine form at the pub that night. As he was a little under the weather when he the pub, he asked John Bromley for assistance in getting home. John was only too happy to help out provided Ezekiel "signed the pledge" (to abstain from alcohol) which he duly did. In a quaint twist of fate, Elizabeth was to marry John Bromley's son, John Dargo Bromley in 1894. Noted events in her life were: • She had a residence in 7 Hawksburn Rd, South Yarra, Victoria, Australia. Elizabeth married John Dargo Bromley, son of John Bromley and Mary Ann McEwen, on 1 Oct 1894 in Bright, Victoria, Australia. (John Dargo Bromley was born in Mar 1864 in Dargo River, Victoria, Australia and died in 1926 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.). The cause of his death was Tuberculosis. |
