bullet  General Notes:

John and Eva were married in England in 1912. It is not presently known whether they knew each other in Sydney but they were certainly on the same ship, the Medic, when it sailed into Plymouth, England on 12 June 1912. Perhaps they met for the first time on the ship, or perhaps they were travelling to England to meet John's parents before getting married just a few months later. Eva was 29, a Spinster and travelling in 3rd Class. Her name was recorded as "Sullivan". She was intending to live in England (which may suggest that she did know John and that they would soon be marrying there). Also travelling in 3rd Class was John Wells, aged 28, Occupation: "None". There was also an Annie C. Wells travelling, a Spinster, aged 29, perhaps she was John's sister?. They were both also intending to live in England.

In July of 1922 John Henry, Eva and Katherine travelled to London on the Suevic disembarking at Southampton on 22 July. Eva was named as "Eva A." and Katherine as "Kathry." Their address for their visit was 2 Tresbury Rd, Sydenham, London. John's occupation is recorded as "clerk". They sailed for home on the SS Mauretania on 18 November 1922. Their departure card reveals that they were in London to visit John's mother, Mrs H. Wells of 2 Tresbury Road, Sydenham, London.

They all made another journey to London in 1934 departing Liverpool on the Ascanius on 20 October. On this journey they were bound for Capetown which was listed as the port of intended departure, but Australia was listed as the "Country of Intended Future permanent residence" so perhaps they were dismbarking there as tourists before taking some other vessel the rest of the way home. John was listed as a "Clerk" again but their London address was recorded as "c/o Commonwealth Bank of Aust., Strand, W.C.2." This may have been common for Australian visitors or perhaps it was his employer? They were travelling as 1st Class passengers.

When he died he was recorded as of "Independent Means" under Occupation. His residence was Yo-Merry, Robinson Road, Moss Vale, NSW.

Katherine (or Catherine) was their only child.
