bullet  General Notes:

In the 1841 Census he is recorded as a Fisherman aged 25, Jane is also 25, both in Cockenzie. There appears to be an "Arch Horn" residing with them, possibly aged 14. This is almost certainly John's brother.

The evidence suggests that after Jean/Jane's death he married again to Marion Blackie.

In the 1851 Census he and Marion are living together (married) with their two daughters aged 6, Anne and Jane. By the time of the 1861 Census John has died, Marion (surname "Horne") is a Pauper living in Cockenzie with Anne who is clearly designated "step-daughter" , a niece Marion Blackie, and son John Horne aged 7. Anne is listed as 14 years old, although she was 17 - she was correctly recorded as 6 years old on the 1851 Census. Jane is living elsewhere in the household of John Bathgate the baker in Cockenzie and working as a Servant, her age is recorded as 16.

I haven't yet located a death record for John. He was alive in April 1859 when son Charles was born as he was the Informant and in May 1859 when daughter Janet died. But on the 1861 Census document Marion is alone with the children and recorded as a Widow.
