General Notes: In the 1841 Census he is recorded as a Fisherman aged 25, Jane is also 25, both in Cockenzie. There appears to be an "Arch Horn" residing with them, possibly aged 14. This is almost certainly John's brother. Noted events in his life were: • He worked as a Fisherman at the time of his marriage on 24 Jan 1838 in Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland. • He worked as a Fisherman at the time of his daughter's marriage on 2 Jun 1871 in Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland. John married Jean Jones, daughter of George Jones and Jean Donaldson, on 24 Jan 1838 in Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland. (Jean Jones was born on 4 Jun 1812 in Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland, christened on 17 Jun 1812 in Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland, died on 6 Jan 1849 in Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland and was buried on 6 Jan 1849 in Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland.). The cause of her death was Cholera. John next married Mary Blackie, daughter of Charles Blackie and Janet Horn, on 24 Jan 1838 in Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland. (Mary Blackie died on 1 Dec 1885 in Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland.). The cause of her death was Bronchitis, 14 days/Cardiac Disease, months. |
