Robert Saunders

  General Notes:

There is a record of a burial for Christian Saunders in 1690 in Stratton. It's not clear if this is Robert's wife, or perhaps a daughter but no baptism record has been found for a child of this name. There is a large gap between the birth of the unnamed child in Aug 1689 (Christian died just a few months later, perhaps a complicated birth?) and the birth of John in 1700. There is a record of a Robert Saunders, residence Stratton, and a Margery Kinsman, residence Stratton, marrying in Launcells on 18 Jan 1695. There is a record of her burial at Stratton 14 Sep 1742, a widow. At this stage I believe Robert married Christian, then married Margery after Christian's death in 1690, and had the last 3 (known) children with her.

This is supported by the fact that in 1702 he was named in the will of one John Kinsman:

Item, I do give and bequeath to John Sanders the son of Robert Sanders my brother-in-law one field called the Crosses plide next the pounds in Stratton all the rights, title and interest that I have in it, after the death of my wife.

Robert married Christian Bond on 24 Apr 1687 in Stratton, , Cornwall, England. (Christian Bond was born circa 1667, died in 1690 in Stratton, , Cornwall, England and was buried on 14 May 1690 in Stratton, , Cornwall, England.)

Robert next married Margery Kinsman, daughter of Richard Kinsman and Dorcas Unknown, on 24 Apr 1687 in Stratton, , Cornwall, England. (Margery Kinsman was born circa 1662, died in 1742 in Stratton, , Cornwall, England and was buried on 14 Sep 1742 in Stratton, , Cornwall, England.)
