John enlisted in the US Army on 18 June 1942 at Tacoma Washington, as a Private. He is believed to have reached the rank of 2nd Lt and was KIA in Normandy, France during the D-Day landings on 6 June 1944.
John married Edith Marguerite King, daughter of Charles Edward King and Edith M. Miles. (Edith Marguerite King was born on 7 Feb 1920 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada and died on 1 Apr 2000 in Bellevue, King, Washington, United States.)
