At the time of the 1861 census he is living in Cockenzie, a fisherman, aged 30, His wife Jane is 22, born in Prestonpans. They are the only occupants.

At the time of the 1871 census he wa sliving in Church Lane Cockenzie. He was a fisherman, aged 40, born Tranent. His wife Jane was 32, born Prestonpans. They are the only occupants.

He was the informant on his grandmother Isabella Ramsays death record. in 1867.
