James Fairweather
(-Bef 1880) |
James Fairweather
Another name for James was Fairwether. General Notes: James was a Tollkeeper and his daughter Margaret married William Napier in Fetteresso. There is also a death record for a Jane NAPIER, daughter of John FAIRWEATHER, Tollkeeper and Margaret REID. She was married to James Napier a Handloom Weaver. It is curious that James & John Fairweather were both Tollkeepers in the same area and both had daughters who married Napiers. However, William and James Napier were not brothers as they had different parents according to their death certificates, and Margaret and Jane Fairweather were not sisters as they had different fathers according to their death certificates. Notwithstanding this, James Napier, Weaver, was a witness at the birth of William's son, William, so it appears they at least knew each other, and most likely were related somewhere along the line. Noted events in his life were: • He worked as a Weaver at the time of daughter Margaret's christening on 12 Feb 1799 in Old Machar, Aberdeen, , Aberdeen, Scotland. • He worked as a Tollkeeper according to his daughter Margaret's Death Certificate. James married Unknown Mallin. (Unknown Mallin was born in prob Scotland and died before 1880.) |
