bullet  General Notes:

Martin was captured by the Japanese in the Phillipines when Bataan fell in WW2. He was a POW for 2 years before being placed on a ship - the Arisan Maru - for transportation to Japan. This was one of the notorious Japanese "hell ships" in which the prisoners were kept in deplorable conditions. The ship was torpedoed by a US submarine and sank en route to Japan and he was killed.

Martin married Lela Taylor. (Lela Taylor was born in 1920 and died in 2007.)
