Mary E A Herbert

  General Notes:

Mary is buried at the Rookwood Cemetery, RC Section, Morturary 1, Area N, Grave 582. Her headstone records her name as Minnie Herbert, but the official records show it as Mary. The age and death year are exactly right for Minnie to be our Mary. Whilst not recorded on the headstone it is believed that her mother, Ellen, is also buried here too. The records indicate that this plot is shared with an Ellen Herbert who was buried on 30th June 1927. This is just after the death date of her mother, Ellen Herbert. However the online records show Ellen's age as 28 which must be an error as she was 80 when she died. Records suggest that this plot is alos shared with a Sarah Smith. I don't yet know who this is.

Her (illegitimate) baby daughter Gladys was buried in a separate plot just 9 days after Minnie's death suggesting that perhaps complications with the birth may have been the cause of death for both mother and daughter.
