Agnes Cullen Jones

   Cause of her death was Bronchopneumonia, 24 hours / Cerebral thrombosis, 3 weeks / Arteriosclerosis, years.

  General Notes:

The middle name of Cullen was most likely in deference to her aunt Mary (Hardie) Cullen - her mother's sister. Mary had a daughter named Agnes Cullen, who was Agnes' first cousin.

After her brother, Jim, died in 1923 Agnes took over the Post Office until she retired in 1943 and moved to Melbourne. Agnes and her husband Samuel Scott had built their home where Feathertop Chalet now stands and after Samuel's untimely death in 1915 she had the home moved and joined to the back of the Post Office, which was the site of the original Jones family home that her parents had built (the house itself was rebuilt by Jim after the original home burned down). For a time in recent years the house was run as The Old Post Office Bed & Breakfast but it is now a private residence.

Her remains were scattered at the Springvale Crematorium.

Agnes' brother-in-law, Robert Scott, successively married two of her nieces, Elizabeth and Annie Jones.

• She resided at the time of her death on 24 Jan 1961 in 30 Normanby Ave, Caulfield, , Victoria, Australia.

Agnes married Samuel John Scott, son of Samuel Scott and Sarah Elliott, on 30 Mar 1904 in Methodist Church, Harrietville, Victoria, Australia. (Samuel John Scott was born on 3 Oct 1873 in Running Creek, Victoria, Australia, died on 22 Jun 1915 in Harrietville, Victoria, Australia and was buried in Jun 1915 in Harrietville Cemetery, Harrietville, Victoria, Australia.). The cause of his death was Cerebral Embolism, 3 days.
