General Notes: Mary wrote to the Army on 18 June 1916 seeking details of the hospital her brother Laurie was recuperating in, having received a cablegram that day saying he had been wounded and lost a leg. She received a response 4 days later indicating that they did not have that information but he could be contacted by writing to him c/o his Battallion. Mary wrote again on the 18 March 1917 seeking information as to his recovery and the name of the Hospital. She received a reply 2 days later indicating they did not know the details, but that if they did receive any further information they would notify Laurie's next of kin, his father. Noted events in her life were: • She worked as a Nurse at the Ararat Mental Hospital on 18 Mar 1917 in Ararat, Victoria, Australia. • She had a residence on 22 Jun 1917 in Streatham Hotel, , Streatham, , Victoria, Australia. Mary married Tom Morris in 1918 in Victoria, Australia. |
