Margaret Annie (Nance) Tobias was a naturally talented dressmaker. She worked for Lillian Wightman who owned Le Louvre in the top end of Collins Street just a few doors down from Exhibition Street. This store only recently closed. Later she was asked by Zara Holt to be her chief cutter and designer but she declined and opened up her own business in the National Bank building in Collins St, Melbourne.
