After studying at the Petit Séminaire de Pont-à-Mousson , in 1888 he became a sub-librarian at the Bibliothèque municipale de Nancy ; in 1893 , he was professor of literature and history at the Professional School of the East and in 1910, sub-editor at the newspaper L'Est Republicain . Émile Badel has written numerous works ( monographs and journal articles ) about Lorraine and its history . He also founded with the Abbe Carrier the Historical Museum of Saint-Nicolas-de-Port.
He has also written articles for the magazine L'Immeuble and the construction in the East under the pseudonym of Pierre Duroc .
A street takes its name to Saint-Nicolas-de-Port and Rosières-aux-Salines , as well as an alley of the Parc de la Pépinière in Nancy.

In 1888 he was under-librarian at the Municipal Library of Nancy. In 1893 he was a professor of literature and history at the Ecole professionnel de l'Est and in 1910 he was the editorial secretary of L'Est Républicain.
