bullet  General Notes:

James and his brother, John, married sisters.

He died in his own house from "Injuries received by falling down to the bottom of ol Pit situated on the Ponds of Keithmont in said Parish" [Whitburn]. His brother, John, also died in the same incident as well as a Robert Hair, aged 44, their Uncle.

James is buried in the same lair (grave) as his wife, Janet. There is a headstone recording Janet's burial, and that for their daughter Elizabeth (see Janet's entry for a picture) in front of a larger headstone on which the writing has faded with age. Elizabeth is actually buried elsewhere in the Whitburn Cemetery. There is also a Cath Walker McInley buried here too.
