Edward Sole

   Another name for Edward was Edward Soal.

  General Notes:

His death record at FamilySearch records a death date of 2 Mar 1838 and an age of 72 placing his birth year at about 1765-1766.

It's not clear if these are his parents but I've placed him here for now. These parents lived and died in St Peters Thanet which is where all of their other (known) children were baptised except for this Edward b 1765 who was born in Herne, not far away. Certainly his parents were Edward and Mary according to his baptism record but were they this same couple?

Edward married Mercy Chittenden, daughter of James Chittenden and Elizabeth Adams, on 10 Dec 1792 in Monkton, , Kent, England. (Mercy Chittenden was born in prob England, died in 1826 in Kent, England and was buried on 8 Oct 1826 in Chislett, Kent, England.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Edward & Mercy were married by licence. From the early sixteenth century, people intending to marry were able to avoid the inconvenience of banns by obtaining a marriage licence. To obtain a licence, one of the parties, normally the bridegroom, had to make a formal statement called an allegation, including an oath that there was no lawful impediment to the marriage.
