bullet  General Notes:

See notes for Helen Meek also. At the time of the 1841 Census he was an Iron Miner aged 20 living in Fauldstone, Whitburn. He was not born in the County, and he was living with Thomas (aged 25) and Isabella (aged 25 also) Meek, perhaps siblings, and Janet meek aged 55, "Independent" and born in the County, possibly their mother. Isabella is recorded as having been foreign born, or born in England or Ireland. Living here also were Thomas and Michael Cadzow, and an Alexander Thornton (aged 7). I have been unable to establish any connection to the Meeks or Cadzows for Alexander Thornton.

The following year he fathered a son, Peter, with Helen Meek who lived nearby (according to the Census) but it appears they never married as she married Michael Cadzow, his housemate, in 1846.

I have been unable to find a record of him in the 1851 or 1861 Censuses, nor of his death in Scotland.
