In the 1930 Electoral Roll he was an Engine Driver living at 108 Taylor St, Armidale in NSW. Living with him were his wife Emma Jane and son William Henry, an apprentice. In 1936, 1937, 1943 & 1949 things were the same, except by 1949 William had moved out to his own place in Armidale.

His Death Certificate records his middle name as "Hardy" and his birthplace as Harrietville. On this document his occupation is recorded as "Brickmaker".

George assisted his sister Elizabeth after the death of her husband by writing to the AIF seeking a Certificate of Death for her husband in order to claim a Life Insurance policy. His letter, dated 1st October 1917, recorded his address as 328 Flinders St, Melbourne. This may have been a hotel .
