Harriet White Foreman
General Notes: Harriet arrived on the ship 'Oriental' on the 7th November 1841, with her father and family. Harriet was the seventh child of the family. She arrived in New Plymouth aged 10, and lived with her parents at the Cnr of Aubrey & Mt Edgecombe Streets. When aged 16, she had an illegitimate son to Harcourt Richard Aubrey, (aged 27), who recognized the child as his and paid the sum of two shillings per week for the child's maintenance. The child was named John White Foreman, b. August 2, 1846 d. September 2, 1936. He was reared in the Old home. Harriet Old passed away after a short and painless illness at the residence of her daughter Alice Sangster, in Urenui. (William Old was born on 14 Sep 1824 in St Mawgan-In-Pydar, Cornwall, England, died on 17 Oct 1894 in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand and was buried in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand.) |
