Thomas Glover
Thomas, a miner from Somerset England, aged 20, was tried in the Somerset Assizes on the 31st March 1814 for "taking rabbits out of a warren". He was sentenced to Transportation for 7 years, arriving as a convict in the Colony on the Indefatigable on the 25th April 1815. Thomas married Mary Chitty on 24 Dec 1821 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. (Mary Chitty was born about 1793 and died in 1834 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.)
According to one researcher, the ceremony was performed by William Cowper. Witnesses were Alexander Campbell and Mary Leighton. I have a copy of a CofE Marriage Certificate on which there is no Minister named. Thomas next married Elizabeth Papps in 1834 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. (Elizabeth Papps was born in 1812 in England and was christened on 8 Nov 1812 in Christ Church, Southwark, London, England.) |
