bullet  General Notes:

His Christening record names him as John DURNEEN. Witnesses were Eugene Durneed and Mary McCaffry.

He was appointed the Farm Bailiff at the Beechworth Lunatic Asylum in July 1873. In this capacity he was in charge of the farming operations. He retired in about 1900 and settled on a farm with his wife at Wooragee.

His Death Certificate suggests he was born in 1839 but it was actually 1836. I assume the birthdate is correct, and it would be consistent with his Christening date.

His Will can be found at the Public Records Office of Victoria ref: 88\\17 PROV; OMA 27/6/1903.
