bullet  General Notes:

The informant on his Birth certificate was his mother, Isabella, who signed her name. He was named as Walter on his brother, Wallace's Birth Certificate.

He was listed as the Next of Kin for his brother, William, when he enlisted in the AIF in March 1915 and his residence recorded as Mt Boppy, Canbelego, NSW. His name there is listed as "H. Walter Jones" also suggesting that Walter was the name he commonly used. He was also recorded as living at Mt Boppy GMC (Gold Mining Coy), Canbeligo NSW on his father's death certificate on which he was the Informant in 1914.

There was another Harrietville connection with Mt Boppy which might explain why Henry Walter went there. After the New Options Mine Company sold out of their Harrietville mining investments in 1904, their Manager, Thomas Pascoe, took up an appointment at Mt Boppy until about 1909. It is altogether likely that he recruited miners to that mine from Harrietville.

In 1943 Henry was living at 26 Irrara St, Croydon, occupation Engineer. His daughter, Thalia Audrey Jones, a tracer, was also living there.

In 1919 he wrote a letter to the Manager of the Great Cobar ltd, in support of an employment application. In this he detailed his work history as follows (dates approximate):

New Options Mines, Harrietville:
1902-1904: Chief Clerk, Paymaster, Storeman
1905: Assistant Battery Manager and partially engaged on construction of new cyanide plant.
New Hillgrove Pty Ltd, Hillgrove NSW
1906-1908: Surveyor, draughtsman, storeman
