George Brendford Holley

  General Notes:

He left Tenterfiedl aged around 18 and went to Charleville with his friend, Val Boxwell, and worked at Commigin Station for 18 years. He returned to Tenterfield when work dried up during the Depression after WW 1. Val Boxwell had returned years before and married Elsie Hall, daughter of Mary Whalan and George's cousin.

As work was still scarce due to the Depression George and Bessie and their two children returned to Charleville where George got a job as a Fitter with the Queensland Railways. He remained employed here until he was aged 70 years. He had various transfers in his job but he returned to Tenterfield in 1935.

George married Bessie Ethel Paterson in 1920 in Charleville, Queensland, Australia. (Bessie Ethel Paterson was buried in Presbyterian Cemetery, Tenterfield Cemetery, Tenterfield, , New South Wales, Australia.)
