bullet  General Notes:

The story of William & Margaret's son George Jones and Margaret Hardie their ancestry and their descendants is recounted in Craig's book - In the Shadow of Feathertop A History of the Lives and Legacy of George Jones and Margaret Hardie . You can read about it here:

Witnesses at her birth were George Morrison and John ??. George Morrison was also a witness at her husband, William Jones' birth. He was an elder of the church and a sailor in Cockenzie.

I have not found a record of her in the 1841 Census so she may have been deceased by that time, although no record of that has been found either.

Margaret married William Jones **, son of John Jones ** and Agnes Young **, on 14 Feb 1801 in Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland. (William Jones ** was born on 6 Sep 1781 in Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland, christened on 16 Sep 1781 in Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland, died on 16 Jan 1840 in Prestonpans, East Lothian, Scotland and was buried in East Churchyard, Prestonpans, East Lothian, Scotland.). The cause of his death was Burned.

bullet  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was recorded on 10th May 1801 when they "produced Marriage Lines dated Edin(burgh) 14th Febry 1801 declared themselves to be married persons and paid the usual dues after which their marriage was recorded"
